Jane Christo has been General Manager of WBUR since 1979. Prior to that, she served as the station's Director of Development and Promotion. Under her guidance, WBUR's weekly cumulative audience has risen by over 500%, to 420,000. In addition, the station has won some of the most prestigious awards in broadcasting, including four Major Armstrong Awards and two George Foster Peabody Awards. In the last four years, WBUR has also received a total of 22 awards from the Associated Press.
